Post How to create/access a new font?
How can I make a TrueType font that I would like to use accessible within PV3D?

Go here
http://five3d.mathieu-badimon.com/
Download the Make new typography file v2.0

Have a read of the instructions that are in the zip.

It says
"1. Place the file « Make a new typography file.swf » in the « WindowSWF » directory of your Flash software."

On my system that would be
C:\Documents and Settings\jb\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\ Flash CS3\en\Configuration\WindowSWF

follow the rest of the instructions, pretty easy.

You will end up with an .AS file of your font.

Put the font in the directory
papervision3d/typography/fonts

You will have to change the package path to

package org.papervision3d.typography.fonts

Also I seem to remember the override functions were missing, have a look at one of the Helvetica files and copy them to your new file.

see if it works. :?

I use the typography file maker and it works great. However you'll need to amend a couple of the vars at the beginning of the .as file once it compiles. Compare the new font file with one of the original fonts supplied with papervision and and you'll see the differences.

Alternatively you can try the com.zavoo.labs library to dynamically load fonts from TrueTypeFont files.

Ok I just tried this today and found this excellent post

http://www.madvertices.com/2009/02/pv3d-text-primitive.html

If you are in a mac go to your user folder>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Flash CS3>en>Configuration>WindowSWF and put the file there.

When you open Flash make a text field and align it to top left of the stage, make it dynamic and embed your font. Then follow the instruction in the link above...

It's so easy I was amazed... Now I can use any fonts including PS and OT...
